I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of pure instrumental albums for a long time, but last year I stumbled over some great representatives of this genre, and something clicked. MYTH OF I's self-titled debut album is the newest and very impressive addition in this wide field for me. The four band members (two guitar players, bassist and drummer) come up with outstanding musical skills, and they deliver progressive (tech-death) metal at its finest.

When I pressed play for the first time, the reaction was just Wow! Honestly, what I heard wasn’t what I had expected (because of the cover artwork I guess), but it blew my mind.

It took a few spins to go deeper, and there's definitely a lot to discover. The heavy guitar work is reinforced by an incredible rhythmic, but you'll find atmospheric and even little jazzy moments as well, supported by background keyboard sounds.

At some points they’re drifting in too technical levels for me, which causes a loss of flow sometimes (although I’m sure that friends of these kind of tech-death expressions are gonna like it), but they always come back on track. Looking at all eleven songs, "Myth of I" is highly recommended for fans of great sophisticated and virtuoso guitar playing.
